Artist: Liz Cohn, Florida
Materials: silver, onyx and found seashell
Size: 8
Artist Statement: In crafting the ring, I arranged circles of silver and onyx, drawing inspiration from the moon's full glow. The silver represents the luminous embrace of the full moon, while the onyx, deep and mysterious, mirrors the shadows cast in the moonlight. Imagining the seashell tossed and turned by ocean waves, weathered and worn, adds a layer of mystique to the design. The shell, nestled within the ring, is a reminder of the ocean's rhythmic dance—a celestial jewel tethered to the earthly beauty of the beach. The ring, a harmonious blend of full moon circles and the ocean's touch, is a wearable ode to the cosmic rhythm and the timeless allure of the sea.
Artist Bio: Meet Liz, a former kindergarten teacher who never stopped learning or playing. To her, jewelry-making is more than just a hobby; it's a stimulating puzzle, where each step brings joy in crafting wearable art. When she's not tinkering at her workbench, Liz loves indulging in delicious food and epic board game sessions with her husband, Brian. Her two adult children serve as both models and critics for Liz's jewelry.
This year’s entry is the second piece in Liz’s “Cayenne Collection”, named in memory of the beautiful and spirited vizsla that accompanied Liz on many beach walks where she collected shells.
